But If I Can’t

Fold up your hands,

And look to me,

Your heart demands,

I set you free,

But if I can’t,

Oh darling be,

Truthful to you,

And good to me.

  1. This is nice, but at the same time he seems controlling or something.

  2. Oooo, I like that interpretation!

I think it’s about a man who is hopelessly in love with a girl and he’s wishing that she loves him back in the same way, but he says that if she can’t love him back then don’t bother trying to convince herself that she loves him – to be true to herself and to not lead him along.

That’s how I see it, but it’s what it makes you think that matters. That’s why I love art. :D

  3. Haha, thanks.

Oh, wow. Well that one makes more sense, I can see it now when you said it though. But I sort of thought he was saying well, if you can’t love me, pretend you do.. sort of thing. I donno. But the actual idea makes sense, and I quite like it.

Art is great, so many interpretations, and we always put a bit of ourselves into it when we read/look at something.
